Software Engineer/Developer for Image Analysis

Blueshift Biotechnoloigies is a young company that develops and markets instrumentation for imaging samples used in high throughput drug screening. We are in a unique position to actively pursue innovative and cutting edge ideas that enable the creation of unconventional imaging and data analysis technologies. We are looking for experienced programmers to develop both new solutions as well as implement existing code into a framework for easy to use image manipulation and data visualization. The application is a data extraction tool for images that have been acquired with a laser scanning device used in drug discovery and biotechnology. The user experience for our system requires graphical presentation of data extracted from images in an interactive environment, so that assay validation and development is facilitated, and the user experience is thereby facilitated. You will be working with SW developers that have developed the instrument control and data acquisition code. The code base for the analysis SW has been implemented in both C++ and Java. The successful candidate for this position will work very closely with other members of the engineering team to execute the deliverables in an established time frame. Our work environment is a fast paced, start up environment with new and changing requirements and extremely tight deadlines. The position is LOCATED IN OUR SUNNYVALE OFFICE.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop image/data analysis software, for standalone and integrated applications.
  • Debug and improve the software
  • Maintain the developed/released software

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • 3+ years industry experience
  • Advanced programming skills in C++ and experience with C#, Windows Forms, and Microsoft .NET (including Visual Studio .NET 2005)
  • Image processing, algorithm development, with graphical presentation of data with interactive user interface
  • Experience with imaging applications in a Windows XP environment
  • Knowledge of biotechnology imaging applications, array technology, data extraction technology.

PREFERRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • 4+ years of programming experience and development of imaging software.
  • Experience with optical systems, interpretation of biological information, and object oriented software development.
  • Prior experience with a Life Science or Imaging/Bioinformatics company is a plus.

Assay Development

A research technician/scientist position is available to develop fluorescent assays in solution, array, bead and cell-based formats. Development will be carried out on novel enhanced content instrumentation based on fluorescence intensity, anisotropy, lifetime, and FRET.

Applicants should have a B.Sc. with 3-5 years or Ph.D. and possess an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. Cell biology experience is essential and the candidate should be familiar with tissue culture techniques. Experience in microplate assay development and a basic knowledge of fluorescent labels and their properties is advantageous. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated team and will work closely with customers to generate high throughput and enhanced content assays.
